So all the time myself and james were stationed in Marigot, we never went up the hillside where the fort was.

Fort Louis was built in 1789 and has been overlooking the ever growing town of marigot since.

Its purpose was to protect the island from attacks on their reserves salt, coffee, sugar cane, and rum.

Though a lot has been lost into rubble in the last few centuries, its still pretty obvious where the walls are, you can spend an afternoon just looking around and enjoying the cool breeze.

We had the place to ourselves and the sunset took our breath away.
